Boo! I'm back!
It's been a while... it's been a while...
Wow! It's been almost two months since I got down to some serious blogging. Though my mind is stormed with so many things that I want to write about, an update on the life and times of Aloke Sarnobat takes pole position.
- July came and I flew back to Japan and Korea
- Short stop for work in India, only to be greeted by floods in Mumbai.
Though the administration's inability in handling the situation was disheartening, it was reassuring to see the 'never say die!' spirit of Mumbai in action!
Meeting KB and Abs was a pleasure as always! - Passed the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) exams (!!!) :)
- August was dedicated to wrapping up work in Norway - rekindled my love for Scandinavia. Oslo's such a pretty city!
- Spent 10 days in Germany, and flew over to Turkey and Greece for vacation.
Turkey - it's not all oriental splendour, mystery, intrigue and whirling dervishes but it is a spicy maelstrom of history knocking up against a pacy present - a melange of Europe and Asia. To sum up my experience, I'd say Turkey is unrivalled in hospitality, the cuisine is to die for, the coastline is a dream, and the many mosques and castles just left us saying, "I wish we had more time here"!
And! You cannot find anyone better than Aakash to show you Istanbul!! It was wonferful catching up with my MC room-mate after so long!
Greece - what can I say... Greece is paradise! Greece is a country with deep respect for tradition, and a deep love of good times!!
It is far out for the beach bum, it is great for the lover of the classics and it is a must see for anyone interested in knowing where western civilization as we know it stems from. - I bought myself an Apple PowerBook G4!!
- The end of September, and I found myself packing my bags for the nth time, moving to London for what would be home for a year or so at least!
I found strange comfort in knowing that my nomad lifestyle would be on hold for a year. All said and done, 8 month of constant travelling, and a suitcase existence was getting to me. Much as I enjoyed the thrill, I had started longing for some sort of permenancy.
Just the thought of being in a place for a year, in a room which would be my very own corner in the universe was comforting. And I felt particularly glee knowing that I had sorted out accommodation in London even before I had reached.
I was not prepared for what I saw when I reached London. My housing was in Clapton (not to be mistaken for Clapham) which was not on the tube map, highly inaccessible, sometimes notorious, run down and dilapitated to say the least. Moving out was inevitable.
So here I am, back to square one, and on the hunt for accommodation in London!
It's been an interesting few months, and between the anxiety of going back to student life, classes, shoe string budgets, less travelling, yet more fun and parties; I'm going to try to fill this space a little more often! :)
